On Wednesday, I wrote about how Jacob persisted in his wrestling with the angel of the Lord — and was blessed for it.
I haven’t been able to get that story out of my head.
Jacob wrestled with the angel through hunger, pain, tiredness. He persisted through the doubt and fears. He didn’t give up even after the angel wrenched his hip and damaged the way he walked for life.
Nothing was getting in the way of Jacob getting blessed.
It’s a convicting story — mostly because there are some blessings I stopped wrestling over.
The process was too difficult. The doubt too great. The pain too much to bear.
So I settled for something less.
After reading this story again, I’ve committed to being persistent — to wrestling with God no matter how difficult it gets until He either blesses me or kills me.
Here are just a few of the things I’m wrestling for:
Ignite
- 50 regular, consistent attenders at our large group gatherings
- 25 regular, consistent attenders in small groups – who aren’t already coming to the large group gatherings
- 75 regular, consistent attenders in our Ignite Cesky Tesin group
- 5 small groups to be launched by the end of 2014
- Launch an Ignite group at Knox College
- Launch an Ignite group at Western Illinois University
- Launch an Ignite group at Bradley University
- Launch an Ignite Czech group in Opava
- Financial support to bring 2 people on full time
- Office space for the organization
Financial
- Receive or earn $55,000 to pay off all debt – including mortgage and student loans
- $650 gift to pay for the elevation certificate required for my flood insurance
- $200,000 to pay for a student to go to college for free
- Money to make repairs to my house or purchase a new one
- Discover multiple revenue streams
Life Goals
- Write a book by the time I’m 40
- Travel to every country in Europe
- Get married and have kids
Those are just a few of the things I’m believing God for. There are more — they are just too personal to share.
