The Blessing Behind Your Fear

Fear is an inevitable part of life.

It creeps in whenever change is around the corner. It rears its ugly head when we try something new. It shows up when their are more questions than answers, doubts than security, unknowns than knowns. Not to mention the fear that comes in whenever we encounter that one thing we’re most afraid of.

There is no escaping fear.
It’s a human emotion we can’t just turn off.

The problem, though, is too many of us allow fear to dictate what we can and cannot do.

A new opportunity arises, and fear tells us it’s too risky.

A chance at a relationship occurs, and fear tells us it will end the same way as all our other bad relationships.

You make plans to start a business, organization, or church, and fear says you don’t have what it takes.

You want to make a change in your life, and fear screams that you are beyond hope. Inadequate. Destined to live the life you’ve always lived.

Fear stops us — and for good reason.

[Tweet “Our greatest blessing often lies behind our greatest fear.“]

For years, I was afraid of flying. I’m not talking about a general nervousness of being in a plane. I was straight up petrified, make my self sick, I will never get on another plane as long as I live scared of flying.

Then the opportunity for my first trip to Europe came up, and I had a choice — face my fears and get on the plane, or say no and let the opportunity pass me by.

I chose to face my fear head on, and my life has never been the same.

I met some of who would become my closest friends because of that decision. Ignite launched a group in the Czech Republic because I faced that fear. Every year since that first trip, I have gone back to Europe, specifically Czech, to minister to others and be ministered to by others.

Spend any amount of time around me, and the topic of Czech will come up.

Why? Because one of my greatest blessings was hiding behind my greatest fear.

The thing you fear in life — starting that new business, going on that mission trip, leaving your day job to be a stay at home mom, moving to another part of the country (or a whole other country), whatever it may be — is standing in front of an immense blessing.

It’s how the enemy works. Get you to stop before you even start so you never receive the blessing God has.

Your greatest blessing lies behind your greatest fear.

Face that fear.
Your blessing depends on it.

Question: What fear do you need to face today?
