Surpassing Love

Every time I go to Czech, I come home to God stirring something personal deep in my heart.

Last year, it was the fact that God wasn’t done with me in Europe.
In 2010, it was the realization that I was still called, even if others didn’t see it.
In 2009, it was learning to dream even bigger.
In 2008, it was coming to the realization that I was called internationally.

This year, that stirring is going deeper to the core.
This year, it’s much more personal than ever before.
This year, it’s something I’ve known for years but am still uncovering.

I am on a journey to discovering what it truly means to be loved by God.

I want more than just a head knowledge.
I want more than just the typical Christian acknowledgement of His love.
I want more than just a few goosebumps and impressions and feelings.

I want something deep.
Something real.
Something I feel even when I’m all alone.
Something I know when life begins falling apart.
Something I experience even when I sin, fall short and mess up.

Something that changes the very core of who I am.

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge —that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17b-19

We are loved by the King.
We are desired by the God of the Universe.

His love isn’t a responsibility or chore.
It isn’t based on what we do or what we don’t do.
It doesn’t fade over time, change or grow cold.

He loves each of us passionately, purposefully and wholly.

When we fully embrace God’s love for us, it transforms every aspect of our being.

It changes how we act.
It changes how we think.
It changes how we try to find love.
It changes the way we see ourselves and how we treat others.

It makes us more like Christ, and fills us with the full measure of God.

We are loved.
And that love surpasses our mental understanding.
