Simply Amazed

This Friday, I will pack my bags, board a plane, and begin the 25+ hour journey on my tenth trip to the Czech Republic.

It still doesn’t seem real.

Ten trips to a country that so quickly captured my heart.
Ten trips to help raise up leaders and plant new churches.
Ten trips to work with youth and young adults.
Ten trips to bring hope and healing to people in need.
Ten trips to call out the potential in young people.
Ten trips to see God use me in ways I never thought possible.

It still leaves me amazed.

For some unknown reason, God lets me do this.

I didn’t ask for it.
I wasn’t looking for it.
Heck, I didn’t even have a desire to ever leave the country. Seriously. I hate flying – and vowed at age 16 that I would never get on another death-trap in the sky.

And yet, 9 years later here I am making final preparations for my tenth trip to Czech.

To this day, I still don’t understand why.

God tends to do that.

He takes our greatest fear, our biggest weakness, the thing we never thought in a million years we would do, and turns it around to our greatest joy.

We get to do this.

We get to be the recipients of His surprises.
We get to bask in the glory of His plans.
We get to do the one thing we never thought we would, yet couldn’t imagine not ever doing.

It’s the beauty of His redemptive work in our lives.

So this Friday, I’ll gather my things, make the 4 hour drive to Chicago, hop on an 8.5 hour flight, another hour flight, make a 4 hour train ride and arrive in the city that has become my second home.

And all the while I’ll be thinking:

I get to do this.

What has God allowed you to do that still blows you away? Leave a comment below.

Periodically over the next few weeks, I will be posting updates on the trip. There is a good chunk of time we will be without internet access, but when I can, you will find updates here.
