Fulfilling the Promise

Jason VanaJason Vana

fulfilling promise

Friday marks the start of my eleventh trip to the Czech Republic.

The four of us that make up this year’s team will board a plane and begin the 15 hour journey that will take us from Chicago to Liberec — our first stop on this year’s trip.

To say I am excited is an understatement.

You see, on top of my normal excitement that surrounds a trip to Czech, this year’s trip will mark a lot of firsts for me and for Ignite:

As I’ve reflected over this trip, and prayed about what God might want to do during our time in-country, I began to realize something:

Every single one of those “firsts” is the start of God fulling promises He made me eight years ago.

Promises that I would minister in more cities in Czech.
Promises that I would start ministries in other European countries (with Germany on that list).
Promises that I would get to work with youth in Bohumin.
Promises that I would one day head up a leadership conference for youth leaders.
Promises that I would eventually have a Czech cell phone.

All those promises, every one written down in a journal during the trip I was on in 2007, starting to see their fulfillment this year.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9

Twenty-seven year old me, the me who heard those promises and wrote them down in his journal, didn’t expect it to take eight years to see them just starting to be fulfilled. He expected it would have happened in a few months. Maybe a few years.

But eight years?
Never would have expected that.

God rarely fulfills His promises in our time-frame, but He always keeps His promises. Tweet this

It may take a few months.
It may take a few years.
It may take a few decades.
It may not even be fulfilled in your lifetime.

But God always keeps His promises.

We just need to hold on long enough to see them come to pass.
