We love our programs.
We get a thrill from putting on a successful event.
We’ll pour thousands of dollars into a few hours on Sunday morning.
We’ll spend hours upon hours planning the perfect outreach.
We’ll fast and pray and cry out for God to grow our services.
We’ll create billboards, design websites and hire marketing geniuses to get people to come.
We’ll start classes, develop resources and launch a ten-week discipleship course to say we’ve done our part.
We place a high value on programming.
We believe the right program will advance God’s kingdom.
We think thousands of attendees make a successful event.
We believe the right course will create dedicated disciples.
We think the right amount of planning and fundraising and workshops is all we need to impact the lives of others.
Deep down, we trust our programs and services to lead people to Christ.
“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” – John 12:32
Our programming can’t save people. Our events and services don’t have the power to change lives. No amount of planning or fundraising or resources can change someone’s heart.
Only Christ can.
Only He has the ability to draw people closer to God.
Our programs can’t do it.
Our best thought out plans don’t have what it takes.
Our well funded outreaches, scripted classes and 12-week disciples courses will fall short.
People don’t need our programs. They need the Christ who dwells in us.
They need to see Christ in the grocery store.
They need to encounter Him in the workplace.
They need to run into Him in the hallways of their schools.
They need to know that He loves them in the midst of their junk.
We carry the spirit of God everywhere we go.
It’s time to take that spirit out of our programming and into the lives of those who need Him most.
How can you take the spirit of God to people who need Him most?
