A GPS God

Believing we’ve disrupted God’s perfect plan for our lives can be paralyzing.

We made the wrong decision.
Chose the wrong path.
Took the wrong turn.
Wasted the perfect opportunity.

And feel we will never become who God wants us to be.
Or do what He called us to do.

We messed up.
Got outside His perfect plan.
And blew any chance we had at doing something great for God.

So instead of pushing forward, we shrink back.
Instead of taking risks, we play it safe.
Instead of stepping out in faith, we stay where we are and wait for God to give us the blueprint of our lives.

Waiting, we’re told, is better than messing up His plan.

“‘The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their ancestors to possess,’ says the LORD.” Jeremiah 30:3

When we make a mistake, when we disobey, when it seems as if we’ve thrown His perfect plan out the window and settled for something less, God does something remarkable.

He restores us.

He picks us up.
Brushes us off.
And puts us back on the path He intended us to be on.

We serve a God who delights in restoration.
We follow a Creator who majors in bringing us back.

God doesn’t leave us heading down the wrong path.
He won’t abandon us to our bone-headed mistakes.

When we make a wrong a turn, God course corrects, and brings us back on track.

He’s a lot like a GPS in that regard.

Understanding God’s restorative nature should give us the courage to step out.
Try new things.
And know that if we make a mistake, He will get us right back where we need to be.

How has God brought you back on track when you’ve made a mistake?
